Aaaahhhh.... Routine

Sorry it's been so long since we've posted anything... I warned Bethany that I might not be the greatest blogger, but atleast we got past that first one, right? So much has happened since the last blog and I don't have much time right now (I have to start work in about 9 minutes) so here's just a quick note.

I just need to say how thankful I am for my sister Bethany who is now watching Bryan while I'm at work. She has a schedule that she sticks to and I know that Bryan can be a bit of a pain and is very loud, as Cameron has reminded me many times by asking that I bring them ear-plugs, so THANKS! It's made my life so much better! Bryan goes to bed at about the same time every night and is getting better at sleeping through the night.

Yes, this is a bit of a guilt trip so that she never tells me that she just can't put up with him anymore and I need to find someone else. ;)

Bethany also has structured play time with the boys, time when they play by with each other so they aren't dependant and need adults playing with them all the time, and many other great things, like playing in a pool. The first pool adventure didn't turn out so well and I think he's now afraid of any water that is not in his bottle or in our tub at home. Okay, not that bad, but he doesn't like fountains, sprinklers, or anything that might get him with cold water.

But, all in all, I lovce having Bethany and her boys watch Bryan. Thank you so much!

Bryan eating, like he always is...

In the pool, not having too much fun :) Notice Drew's shirt: "Ididn't do it". I don't believe it.

We thought it would be smart to introduce Bryan to Boomer early so that he would not be afraid as he grew up.  Now, at almost 8 months old, Bryan loves the dog. He just giggles if we chase the dog. He half army crawls, half rolls to wherever the dog is sleeping just so he an pull his ears, feet, jowls...anything in reach, really. And he lunges off my lap as Boomer walks by, trying to play with him. I'm glad that he's not afraid, but I think they're spending too much time together. Now Bryan is starting to pick up some of Boomer's oddities. He's starting to reach and explore any time I change his diaper (no, the dog does not have a diaper, but he definitely has a fondness for that area). Bryan follows his mommy around wherever she goes and won't eat for anyone else if he knows I'm nearby. Most recently, though, is his love for water bottles. Like Boomer, if he sees you with a water bottle, he tries with all his might to get it from you, finally resorting to staring at you with his weepy, longing eyes. So, naturally, you give in. And, oh, how he loves to roll around, chewing on his new toy. I'm just waiting for him to get the lid off and, deciding that the puzzle has been solved, leave the pieces laying in his wake as he moves on to the next non-toy item.

Matts Log:

The one thing I hate about vacation is the time you spend anticipating it. And with this trip we have to Vancouver coming up I have been anticipating it way too long. It just can't come soon enough. I would say one of the main reasons is (I hope none of my managers from RC Willey are reading this.) I hate my night job. And the worst part is that I have a 40 -45 minute drive to think about how much I wish I weren't driving in to work. Every night it is the same thing. I drag my self into the bedroom to get my work close on then I try to convince Kellie that I don't need to go to work. (That never works though.) of course I can't wait to see my family that is the main reason that I am in anticipation but man will it be nice to not go in to RC Willey for a week and a few days.

Ahhhhh....Sleep.

I so miss the days, or nights rather, of long, uninterrupted sleep. I'm usually a 9 hour girl, but have learned to survive on far less since Bryan came. It's amazing what you're still able to get done with just 4 1/2 hours of sleep under your belt. It's even more amazing what you can rationalize yourself out of doing with excuses such as: there's so many other things I need to put my energy into, nobody will notice if our house is dirty - it's too dark down here, I just cannot go another minute or I might just die.

So, here I am again, sitting at my desk at work (before I've clocked in...), trying to find the energy to face the piles of papers that surround me.

The sad thing is that it's bound to get worse before it gets better. This weekend is designated as our "Break Bryan of his Waking up in the Middle of the Night" weekend. Basically, let his cry himself out. We'll have to see how it goes. Just fair warning to anyone I'll be speaking to - If I suddenly start crying, or screaming, you'll know it's because I'm nowhere near getting my 9 hours.

Hope

So, I'm new to this whole blogging thing. Bethany conned me into it by saying "the prophet said to keep a journal" and this is probably the closest thing to a journal that I'll get.

It's always fun to delve into the adolescent journal that spanned three, or eight in my case, years and see what was important at the time...fights between friends and being stuck in the middle, first boyfriend, thinking every little thing could end up being the absolute best or absolute worst thing that would ever happen to me. Quite pathetic, really. So. Here's hoping to not regretting the words written here. :)
